Easy Application with a Household Iron
Apply your custom DTF transfer at home using a standard household iron. Follow these simple steps for the best results.
Step 1: Prepare Your Garment
Place your garment on a flat, hard, heat-resistant surface. Make sure the fabric is clean, dry, and free of wrinkles.
Step 2: Position Your Transfer
Place the DTF transfer on your garment with the printed design facing up and the adhesive side against the fabric.
Position the design exactly where you want it.
Step 3: Cover the Transfer
Place a sheet of parchment paper over the transfer to protect the design while applying heat.
Step 4: Set Your Iron
Set your household iron to medium-high heat (approximately 300–320°F, if your iron has a temperature setting).
Turn off the steam function and empty the water reservoir.
Allow the iron to heat completely before applying the transfer.
Step 5: Apply Heat and Pressure
Press the iron firmly onto the covered transfer for approximately 15–20 seconds per section.
Apply steady, even pressure without sliding the iron back and forth.
For larger designs, lift and reposition the iron to cover the entire transfer. Slightly overlap each pressing area.
Step 6: Let Cool, Then Peel
Allow the transfer to cool completely before carefully peeling away the carrier film.
If any part of the design lifts with the film, lay the film back down and press that area again.
Step 7: Final Press
Cover the design with parchment paper and press again for approximately 5–10 seconds to help secure the transfer to the fabric.
Allow the garment to cool before wearing.
Care Instructions
- Wait at least 24 hours before washing.
- Turn the garment inside out before washing.
- Machine wash in cold water with mild detergent.
- Avoid bleach and fabric softeners.
- Hang dry when possible, or tumble dry on low heat.
- Do not iron directly over the printed design.
Important: Household irons vary in temperature and pressure. A commercial heat press provides more consistent results. Always follow the temperature, pressing time, and peeling instructions supplied with your specific DTF transfer, as requirements may vary.
